America's Best Contacts & Eyeglasses

Absolutely awful experience with the Clairemont Location. Was given an inaccurate prescription that I made staff immediately aware was wrong and was told to wait and come back despite that. Clairemont and El Cajon locations both lost my wife's order and were unable to provide her glasses at three separate instances so she just has never received them in nearly two years now. Dr Tammy Monck has rushed through our appointments every time we've sat with her leading to my inaccurate prescription and the problems I'm dealing with now. Go to any other eye care provider instead. Pictured is my current pair of glasses with the grip falling apart leading to scratching my ears. I've never had this issue in my life with a pair of glasses. Ash has been incredibly helpful at this location but this company overall just makes mistakes at every corner if its not outright cutting those corners and isn't worth the effort. Had issues with the doctor previously when it was Eyeglass world but at least we actually received our glasses then

America's Best saved my peace of mind. I fell at the airport and bent my eyeglass frame. They restored the frame practically back to normal and cleaned my glasses all without charging me a cent. As a frequent traveler to San Diego, I am very appreciative of their kind service and helpful attitudes.

Great office with wonderful staff! Dr. Tammy was super professional and caring with a fun bubbly personality! Ash was my optician and I couldn't have asked for anyone better. From answering all my questions on the phone the day before and booking my appointment for my first contact lenses exam, Ash was so warm and informative! She was wonderfully personal, helpful, (and patient) while I tried, and tried, aaaaand tried again to place the contacts in by myself, offering nice words of encouragement throughout the process. She answered all my questions about options, and pricing for contacts, and I feel confident in my decision. I love this place, will definitely be back before my next exam! Thanks for a great experience!

Sept 3rd, 2025 I walked into the office with (no appointment) a specific goal in mind, getting a prescription for contact lenses to order at Costco. I explained my intention to the staff who assisted me. Within 10 min, I was in the doctor's office. The doctor examined my eyes and gave me sample lenses (Bausch + Lomb Ultra). She mentioned that she would order another brand (didn't get the name) for me to try. I walked out of her office feeling pleased with our interactions. Before leaving the facility, I spoke to the same staff (choosing not to state her name) who helped me before, paid the bill, and asked her to double check the prescription that the doctor wrote for me. She checked and said, "Yes, you should be able to order your contact lenses with this prescription at Costco. Sept 30 I finally had time to go to Costco and looked forward to getting my task done. When I got there, I waited 40 minutes and they told me that I couldn't order the lenses with the prescription I had. I felt exhausted and decided to go home. On the way to my house, I pulled over and called American Best C & E. While speaking with the staff (again I choose not to state the name), I explained my situation. I inquired if he could text me a new one. He asked to put me on hold briefly, went to speak with the doctor, came back and replied that he could fax the prescription or the other option was to have the Costco staff call the doctor on the phone; he wouldn't be able to text due to company policy. Because I wanted to be through, I had already asked Costco staff to call American Best C & E for the doctor's approval; they don't do calls to doctors' offices. I had no choice then to make another trip. Before ending my call, the staff mentioned he would make a note on my file regarding my going back to the office. I thought that was thoughtful and thanked him for helping me. Oct 1st I walked into the office. Jonathan was the staff who helped me. After finding out there was no note about my reason for being there, I shared my frustration with Jonathan. He apologized to me repeatedly, walked to the doctor's office, came out and handed me the prescription. Before leaving, I made sure Jonathan understood I was not upset at him; however, I was disappointed of how the staff didn't keep their words and failed to provide me with an adequate service. I am hoping for a better experience and service when I return for a vision test next year. Ash, the manager, was such a tremendous help! She provided excellent communication and had me smiling the entire time. The rest of the staff were just as kind and helpful, making the whole visit feel easy and stress-free. The doctor had me in and out quickly, and the wait time was minimal. Overall, this was one of the best experiences I've ever had at an America's Best.

Lindsey was fantastic. I wanted multiple eyeglasses and she contacted twenty locations to track down exactly what I wanted. She went above and beyond and provided extraordinary customer service.

I had a very good experience with Dr. Monck, Deajan, Jonathan, Juno, Lindsey, and Zach. My first appointment went very well, but it turned out the prescription didn't work for me, so I went back in and got a follow up appointment for the next day with no additional charge. As a result of the new prescription, they also remade my glasses and redid my contact order at no additional charge. I think it's exceptional when companies are quick and graceful in "making it right". And that definitely deserves praise these days... and, for me, it means I know I can be confident that I'll get the glasses and contacts that will meet my needs for the next couple years. The office is spacious and clean. Very good parking. The techs are experienced and helpful. Drop ins have brief wait times and are acknowledged by staff. They are familiar with insurance and provide support for your carrier. They provide repairs and fitting. They are the best overall.
