Dr. Chirag M. Shah MD

EDIT: Bianca reached out to me this morning and was able to resolve my payment issue. She was very kind and professional the entire time. As mentioned earlier, the procedure and experience were great (5 stars) which prompted me to adjust my rating. INITIAL REVIEW: This review focuses solely on the poor communication from the front desk and billing department, not on the quality of care. Dr. Chirag M. Shah performed my procedure exceptionally well and I'm very pleased with the medical outcome. I had two procedures in July 2025 and was unfortunately overcharged. I was assured a refund would be issued, but six months later I've received no update, no refund, and virtually no resolution despite my efforts. I've called the front office and billing department more than 20 times, spending countless hours on hold and following up. On multiple occasions I was promised a callback or told the refund was being processed, none of those promises have been kept. I never wanted to leave a review like this, but it's been too long with no answers.

I scheduled this appointment last Thursday through Zocdoc, specifically for a stye/chalazion. The appointment was confirmed, for the following Monday, and I drove 30 minutes to get there. When I arrived, the office was completely closed -- door locked, lights off. No signage. No notice. Only after I showed up did someone call and claim they had "left a voicemail" that morning (which I never received). During that call, I was then told the doctor "doesn't even see patients for styes." That is unacceptable. If the doctor does not treat this condition, why does your practice appear in Zocdoc search results for styes and allow patients to book and confirm appointments for it? This was a total breakdown in scheduling, communication, and basic respect for a patient's time. I took time out of my day, drove a significant distance, and showed up to a locked office -- only to be told after the fact that they don't treat the issue I was explicitly booked for. Extremely frustrating experience. I would not trust this office's scheduling system or communication. If you were "closed for the holidays" why didn't you notify me when I booked the appointment the previous Thursday???????

*EDIT: TBH, dropped the rating by 2 stars. Would be 5 star experience still, but they are massively double booking. I was rushed in and out the last 2 visits I had, and I had to remind the doctor of my information both times because he didn't look at my chart or info before coming in to see me. Sadly, they were all over the place. Switching you in and out of rooms. I'm going to go elsewhere for a more relaxed experience and a second opinion. Overall the staff is still nice and they are knowledgeable, but over booking appointments at the same time (from my several visits there) is a problematic pattern. *Original review: Welcoming and helpful staff. Always polite and friendly. Easy to work and talk with. Cares about patients first. Highly recommend. The only one I trust to give me honest answers. Thank you. *Can be hard to find. Turn right into the parking lot (at the Edward Jones sign) and you'll find the entrance at the back of the building. It's under the 16766 blue awning. Once inside on the left either take the stairs or elevator up to the second floor. Then his office will be on the left.

Highly recommend seeing Dr. Shah for your eyes--he took such good care of my family and friends--we love him! He always makes extra time to explain things to all of us: thank you to the wonderful medical team at this office!

I cannot say enough on the expertise or the compassion that Dr. Shah has for his patients. I have had to see Dr. Shah twice in the past six months for some immediate care. He went out of his way to accommodate seeing me and made sure I was taken care of properly. His skill with a laser is impressive. I would highly recommend Dr. Shah for any of your vision concerns. His knowledge and skill is only matched by the caring he has for his patients!!

My husband and I were on vacation this weekend & unfortunately my husband had an eye injury and it landed us in the Emergency Room. The ER consulted with Dr. Shah on call for the hospital and he ended up getting us in at his practice late Friday night to be able to see my husband immediately. He was also very responsive as we called him on Saturday and Sunday to decide whether we should fly home or not, we ended up staying a little longer and delayed flying home to be able to see Dr. Shah again on Monday morning. His office was very welcoming & his staff were great! Dr. Shah was very kind, flexible, available and accommodating. We are so very grateful he was on call for the hospital, and that we were lucky enough to see him during our emergency. Cannot recommend him more!!

Unbelievably professional and precise in his assessment and repair of my husband's torn retina. Our eye doctor in OC recommended him and we are SO HAPPY she knew of Dr. Shah. After my husband's surgery, the OC doctor was super impressed with his repair. . She said it was beyond what she typically sees with other retina repairs from other doctors. Not only is his work amazing, he also has a wonderful bedside manner and an overall great personality. I recommend him to everyone! Shah is the MAN!!

Prior to my recent cataract surgery, my eye examination showed a tear in my left retina that would have to be repaired prior to cataract surgery. The tear did not interfere with my vision so I never noticed the problem. However, I had noticed floaters in my eye. My cataract ophthalmologist set up an appointment for me with Retina Results, Dr. Chirag Shah, a much respected Retina Specialist in the San Diego area. His office staff was efficient and courteous in arranging for my appointment. My initial appointment was for an evaluation of my problem. I was immediately impressed with the quality of the examination equipment and the skill of the evaluating technician who did the data gathering. Dr. Shah's bright, positive personality gave me confidence that I was in good hands. Dr. Shah examined both of my eyes to make sure nothing was missed. He confirmed a tear in my left retina. He knew that I wanted to start my cataract surgery soon and made a follow up appointment for me two days later. He determined that laser surgery was my best option. The laser surgery took place with no complications. I did have a follow up examination a few days later that showed the laser surgery was healing nicely. I am not suited to evaluate the quality of the laser surgery and left it to my cataract ophthalmologist to evaluate. She called it "Excellent".
