Isabel Val OD and Associates

I have the pleasure of having my eye exam by Isabel Val OD, at Costco on Morena boulevard. She is an exceptional optometrist and I was very pleased by her thorough examination and explanations! Isabel Val Was professional, friendly, very helpful, and I highly recommend her! The staff was also very friendly and helpful! Thank you all for what you do!

I saw Dr Joanne Kim who is an associate doctor here. She is great. I was having headaches on the computer and Dr Kim solved this issue for me. The new glasses work great. She also caught something in my retina that no other optometrist has ever mentioned and explained the condition very well. She might have just saved my vision!

I'm on a road trip from New Jersey and my contacts were acting like trash, and then I realized I was (considerably) overdue for an eye exam/prescription. Dr. Val was incredibly personable and made my visit the highlight of my day (which is I guess a little strange to say about an eye exam, but whatever). Can not say enough good things about this experience, the efficiency and friendliness of everyone in the office. No offense to my local optometrist, who is perfectly fine, but I wish I had a reason to make this my annual location!

Had the pleasure of Dr. Val's services 2 weeks ago. She was the most thorough Optometrist I have experienced inn 63 years. I have been wearing glasses since age 2. I have a very real "dry eyes" condition and had to change from gas permeable to soft lenses. Dr. Val has taken the time and trouble to give me (free of charge) several different types of lenses to try so that my eyes have the best shot at 20-20 vision AND the highest likelihood of comfort. She also referred me to an Ophthalmologist for a retinal lesion found in the exam to be checked out. Very thorough. Very kind. Good sense of humor. I was impressed. I felt very safe in her capable hands.

Dr. Val's colleague Dr. Kim OD saw me same-day as urgent add-on before 6pm close as one of my eyes was bumped hard a few days ago and swollen, great full exam only $89., even with internal eye pics...no bad damage. Thank goodness. Time & rest rec. Yay!

The office advertises itself as a participating provider for MESVision but refuses to accept the insurance negotiated fee **after** the exam. They initially wanted to charge me $40, but lowered it to $20 after I questioned its billing practice. However, as a participating provider, under my plan, I am only supposed to pay $10 instead, I have attached an email confirmation from my insurance that reaffirms my out-of-pocket payment should be $10. When I visited the office today for a billing inquiry, they insisted on charging me higher than my plan co-pay. Although the difference, $10, is not much and I don't have a problem wrt the eye exam, their predatory billing practice should be called out.

I thought the office folks were lovely & Dr. Val was great. Pleasant experience
