It has been a couple of years since my experience with Doctor Eck, and since I was only out of pocket sixty-something dollars, I didn't think anything of it. I chose to vote with my feet and never return to Mosaic Eye Specialists. However, I recently met a woman at a party who shared a similar experience with him, so I feel compelled to share.
During a routine exam, Dr. Eck noticed an eyelash in my eye and asked if I would like him to remove it. I said yes and didn't think much about the question. When I received my explanation of benefits (EOB), there was a charge for "Surgery, removal of an eyelash." I called the office to ask how such a benign effort could be considered "surgery," and his staff told me the charge was applied to my deductible. I insisted that the charge should not have existed in the first place and that I could have removed the eyelash by simply wiping my eye.
I understand medical school is expensive, but such unethical practices will not repay his student loans. In fact, what would have happened if I had reported this matter to the insurance company or medical board?

I've been seeing Dr. Adam Dao for several years. He is thoroughly professional, extremely competent as well as warm and friendly. His office staff and medical technicians are absolutely tops, in addition to being kind, conscientious, knowledgeable and professional.
He's done several surgeries for me, including cataract surgery on both eyes, and I'm extremely pleased with the results. I also know that if I'm having a problem with my eyes Dr. Dao's caring staff will make sure I can get an appointment as soon as possible.
My husband is similarly impressed with his associate, Dr. Thomas Eck.
This is an excellent ophthalmology practice with well-designed offices filled with beautiful art. I feel my vision is in good hands at Mosaic.

Currently dealing with an eye condition, just moved to San Diego. Contacted Mosaic and they were able to schedule an appointment that same-day. I just moved to San Diego so I wanted to make sure they would accept my insurance. The receptionist Nicole had me send my insurance information over via email. She emailed me first, I replied with my insurance card immediately.
I asked them to let me know if there was any issue, I did not receive a response back before my appointment (~3 hours) so I assumed I was all set.
Drove 20 minutes, arrived at the office and was asked to fill out paperwork.
After filling out the paperwork, I was advised that they did not take my insurance and I would have to pay $350 out of pocket to be seen. No explanation for why this wasn't discovered earlier.
Now it's the late afternoon and I can't find anywhere that can see me on short notice. Terrible experience at Mosaic Eye Specialists. Even worse because I knew this might be an issue and took steps to ensure my time was not wasted.

Had the pleasure to see Dr Dao and Dr Eck during my eye visit. The office is clean and beautiful, front staff are pleasant and friendly. Mosaic Eye Specialists and Dr. Adam Dao, I've had 1 visit on or around 2017 @ his other office, for dry eye syndrome & a glaucoma health scare (high pressure in 1 eye prompted me a referral). Thankfully then I was given a clean bill of health then in 2017. Also January 28, '24 at his new office, Mosaic Eye Specialists, I was given a battery of tests for a Cornea concern (after having 2 different optometrists giving me 2 different diagnoses/treatment plans). Dr. Dao was again, patient positive, thorough, competent & kind. I also had a visit on my eye dialation with Dr Eck who was also skilled & pleasant on this January 28, 2024 visit. I will be going back here again, & if my medical insurance won't any longer pay for services, I'd pay for cash or via credit card, for a definitive diagnosis & an effective treatment plan which is what I got on 6/28/24.

I saw Dr. Dao for a same day appointment for eye pain from a makeup brush mishap. He was amazing, as was the technician and rest of the staff! Even as a new patient they got me in within a few hours, which was great because my eye was bothering me and diagnosing myself via Google had me freaking out. They were honestly so nice and alleviated all of my fears. The best thing was the way Dr Dao treated me. He talked to me like a friend, not just another patient, and I really appreciated that! Go here, you won't be disappointed :)

I couldn't be happier with my experience at Mosaic. After a severe eye infection that almost left me blind in my right eye, Dr. Eck cared for me for a couple months until it healed and then Dr. Dao took over when it was time for my PRK surgery. Both doctors and their entire staff are incredibly kind, professional, and work together as a well-oiled machine. The office environment is stunning as well. It feels more like a spa than a clinical setting. I really appreciate everything this practice has done for me since November of 2019. They were all really there for me during a particularly difficult and scary time in my life and for that, I am eternally grateful.

I just have to say that anyone that has Dr. Dao as their eye doctor is very lucky. He is an amazing doctor, he is caring, friendly, and extremely knowledgeable. Dr. Dao took his time to answer all of my questions with very clear, thorough and detailed explanations. He is always willing and able to answer any question that I might have. He even answered my questions through email, and got back to me within several hours - to within 24 hours (I didn't expect him to get back to me immediately because he is very busy). His staff are all very friendly, helpful and also very knowledgeable. I was very impressed with the equipment that is used at Dr. Dao's office, it is all State-Of-The-Art, top of the line. If I could give Dr. Dao higher than a 5 star rating, I would, he is just that good.
