This was the worst optometry experience I've ever had. First, there was confusion with my appointment time. I spoke with Dr. Yu to book 4:40 PM appt, but upon arrival the front desk told me I was scheduled for 5PM & I wasn't actually seen until 5:20. Also the eye exam itself felt extremely rushed. The doctor moved through the vision test too quickly, switching slides before I even finished reading the letters, and didn't take the time to clearly determine the best prescription, which is unacceptable when patients are expected to buy an annual supply of contacts. I spent more time sitting in the lobby waiting, than actually being examined. After receiving trial contact lenses, I was sent back into the lobby to wait longer for my lenses to settle to retake the eye exam (while the doctor took other patients). The appointment dragged on for over an hour due to excessive waiting and poor time management.
The contact lens ordering process was also a complete mess. I was told my annual supply would be ready in a week, only to find out on pickup day that the order was never placed (with the excuse that my prescription was never confirmed, even though I did verify it with the person I placed the order with). I then received conflicting explanations & a promised "rush order," and finally on the day I was supposed to receive my lenses, i was told they were backordered with no guaranteed delivery date...None of this was proactively communicated and I only discovered this information when calling the eye doctor first on the day my lenses were supposed to be picked up to ask if my lenses were ready..
Overall, this office is disorganized, rushed, and poorly managed. If you value a thorough exam, clear communication, and basic follow-through, I strongly recommend going elsewhere.
I have seen Dr Yu twice for vision exams. She is nice, patient and effective. I am very satisfied for my new contact lenses!
Excellent care, especially since I just walked in, on a holiday! Glasses came in less than 2 weeks and fit perfectly. My first experience in Mira Mesa after less than desirable treatment in North County. Will definitely return next year.
Dr. Yu is the best, she is patient, knowledgeable, and very responsive, I can not recommend enough. Being her patient, you are in good hands.
Dr Yu is a great DR. He helped me save my shaking teeth with throughly cleaning.
I have been with Doctor Yu's Neovision Optometry since 2004. I have had very good and consistent experience every year for last 19 years. My vision is very sensitive to any new prescription or changes. So annual eye exam, new prescription, new glass adjustment are always my biggest headache. Of course that also causes Dr. Yu's office significant work and inconvenience, but Dr. Yu and her staff are always very patient and helpful in terms of my new glass adjustment, fine-turning new prescription and sometimes rework a pair of new glasses in the lab, etc. I always appreciate all what Dr. Yu has done for me for these many years. I would also like to strongly recommend Dr, Yu's Neovision Optometry to anyone who may need or look for new glasses with a clear vision.
I was unable to get an appointment all over town and the dates were too far out to accommodate my needs. I happens to be in a rush due to relocate to another state and I came upon this optometry office and I walked in taken care of straight away. The staff was helpful and kind.
Unprofessional!
I went to see this optometrist a few months ago because of the good reviews...
The staff is polite but not the optometrist, when she did the exam the "first time" I didn't realized she was done because I never saw clear when she kept switching the lenses on the machine to check, she said it was done and pushing me into buying the glasses from her limited selection.
A few days later I had to call back asking for my prescription that they promised they'll email and never did, I went to buy my glasses and was told what they emailed me it wasn't a prescription so I had to called again to request it, while at the glasses shop they realized some information was missing and called again, which the optometrist herself got on the phone very rude told the technician that the information was enough for them to make the glasses, I was told they would not be able to make them or would have to guess...
I had to called my insurance to contact the optometrist to get the prescription, and went in person to pick it up.
I finally ordered the glasses and they were really bad that even gave me a headache, I contacted the optometrist and was told to go back for a second exam, I went again, and again she never adjusted the lenses to see clear, when I questioned that, she only said that she was testing my limits...
She mentioned that I was seeing blurry because I have catarats, which I was shocked.
I went to have my glasses exchanged to Costco with the new prescription and contacted my doctor who told me, the optometrist would have to refer me to the especialist, so I called the optometrist and they referred me, but when the assistant of my especialist contacted the optometrist office, the optometrist herself said that it was very mild and I didn't need to see the especialist, really!?!?
Just used that as excuse for the poor exam?
I can see her lack of professionalism and ethic, I wasted so much time and money because the second prescription it wasn't correct again and had to go to another optometrist paying out of pocket.
Don't trust her reviews and better go to any other optometrist
