Dr. Shulkin is wonderful. He's very thorough and explains each test he is administering. His tools and equipment are top of the line and he doesn't do the air puff test (which I despise). The cost for my exam is cheaper than other places I've been to (after my insurance has been applied). The front office staff is great too.

Dr. Shulkin is really good and I've been taking my daughter to him for years but today I had a bad experience with his receptionist and canceled my appointment. Looking for a new one. My daughter had an emergency needing a contact lense right away and she told me she'll give me a call back, hours later I finally gave them a call back and she said doctor has been busy and can't even ask him a question in between patients.

BEST OPTOMETRIST!!! I have been using North County Optometry for over ten years and havealways had a smooth, pleasant and seamless experience. Dr. Shulkin has a wonderful, calming presence. He is thourough, spends time on questions/concerns and keeps up to date with the latest treatment protocols and tools. The office staff is always prompt and go out of their way for eye glass adjustments or last minute contacts. Office hours are accomidating and the online patient portal is convenient and helpful. You will not be disappointed here! I highly recommend!

Dr. Shulkin is wonderful! I've been going to him for years. I have astigmatisms and that makes it difficult to get a good fit for my contact lenses, but he does it well. I have no experience buying glasses here, but I have been so impressed with Dr. Shulkin that I choose him to do my vision test even when I had to pay out-of-pocket.

I been going to North County Optical for over ten years. And, I've always had a pleasant experience. Dr. Shulkin is very knowledgeable and has modern equipment which he uses check my eye health and dial in my prescription. I totally trust him and would recommend North County Optical to anyone.

Dr. Shulkin is very professional, knowledgeable, and friendly. He's great at communicating and explaining why something is wrong (if there is). I recommend this office because the entire staff is quite friendly and really enjoy helping their customers!

Never have I had such a poor optometrist visit as at this place. But first, let me say the Doctor there is wonderful! He was courteous, polite, and engaging. The staff there are another story altogether as well as whatever lab they use. My new glasses were to be in within a week. When we were told the glasses were in that week wait, it turned out to only be my husbands glasses. We ordered 4 pair total. They said mine didn't come in because the insurance information was transposed so they had the wrong number for one of the pair! How they figured out the other 3 pair baffles me! They said they would put a rush order on them as I left them my old glasses to use as the 2nd frame. When I finally get a notice that my glasses are in, my husband got one a day later saying his 2nd pair were in that he had to return because they didn't put the transition lens in. When we got there only 1 pair of mine were in and my husbands weren't. They said it was a system error. The office staff appear as if they have no idea what's going on. They ask for your name several times over as if they don't pay attention the first 3 times they ask you. I'm now going on week 4 with no glasses!

The doctor might be great. But stay away from Chona Tran. I have never encountered such an undignified individual who worked at such a well-merited office. This review is solely based on my experience with her, who happens to be a manager whom is supposed to serve as a liaison who reflects the heart and character of this business yet she has been the total opposite with her insensitivity and repugnant attitude.
