Scripps Clinic Pediatric Ophthalmology : Dr. Gregory Ostrow M.D.

I'm a senior who had been living with double vision for almost ten years. I had been to many eye doctors over that time and was told nothing could be done except prism eye glasses. When I met Srianna (orthoptist for Dr Ostrow) she determined that prism glasses would never work for me. But she explained that strabismus (eye muscles) surgery could work for me. Dr Ostrow and Srianna were both kind, listened to my concerns and communicated well. I had strabismus surgery about 3 weeks ago and results are nothing short of amazing! Many thanks to Dr Ostrow, Srianna and his team at Scripps in Carmel Valley!

We are very thankful for Dr. Ostrow! He made time in his busy schedule to see our daughter in an emergency. He made sure that all of our questions were answered and he seemed genuinely concerned for her even though she was not a regular patient of his. We feel he went above and beyond. Yes he is firm and direct in getting the situation handled, and some may take him the wrong way, but we felt he was very nice and he knew what was wrong with our daughter's, eye and that is what is most important.

Dr. Ostrow is an amazing doctor. My 3 year old daughter had a lot of problems with her eyes and we were worried that her sight might be affected long-term. He operated on her eyes and the result exceeded our expectations. He is an amazing surgeon! I feel very lucky to have met him.

Dr. Ostrow is phenomenal and he saved our son's vision. Our pediatrician had noticed an issue with our son's eye movement (he was under age two at the time) and recommended we see an optometrist. The optometrist dilated our son's eyes and did a full exam and explained that he would need glasses and gave him a very strong prescription. Our son struggled with the glasses and after two months we decided to seek a second opinion from Dt. Ostrow. Dr.Ostrow also dilated his eyes and performed a full exam and advised us that his vision was great for his age, but that he needed immediate strabismus surgery. We were shocked because we had been forcing glasses on our son for months believing his vision was bad. We decided to get a third opinion from a very well known UCLA strabismus doctor who's exam and numbers came back identical. He was familiar with Dr. Ostrow and he encouraged us to have the procedure done with him and described him as one of the best pediatric strabismus surgeons in San Diego. The surgery was successful and my son has had no issues since. During some of our appointments I noticed that Dr. Ostrow had an intense personality and is obviously very knowledgeable with what he does. This actually made me want him to perform the surgery even more for our son because I wanted the best possible surgeon touching his eyes. I mention this because I saw that one of the other reviewers commented that he was not good with patients, which I disagree. I didn't need him to be extra friendly or have great patient interpersonal skills, I needed him to be good at his job and skillset and he most definitely is. Your child will get the best from Dr. Ostrow.

Excellent surgeon. Everything was explained well. The process through Rady's was excellent. Surgical results are on point. Excellent surgical experience for my pediatric family member. I am a surgeon and was impressed with Dr. Ostrow's abilities.

Dr. Ostrow is professional, knowledgeable, and great with children. Very well trained and caring.. He's one of a few great pediatric Ophthalmologist. I trust my child with him, which is what we all want as a parent.

Doctor Ostrow saved my 10 year son's vision with a simple "can do" attitude. His other doctor had given up and stopped treatment. I am so glad I sought a second opinion.

Not Kid-Friendly! Below Par service from Dr. Ostrow. After 5 years of seeing my child, he spent more time talking us into seeing someone else, than examining my son. The billing is consistently incorrect. Do your research, and look elsewhere.
