I got my first eye exam in 5 years at this office -- my glasses were super old and I was long overdue for a checkup. It's a small, but cozy office with a decent selection of frames.
Dr. Phung and his staff are so knowledgeable and welcoming. I really appreciate the care and attention they put into providing the best experience for the patients. You can tell that both the staff and the doctor love their jobs immensely.
The doctor provided a very thorough exam, explaining every step and concern, while the staff members worked hard to help me select some frames that suit my face shape and we were able to narrow it down to one that I really like. I really appreciated their honesty in what did and did not look good on me -- some people will just tell you what you want to hear, but it was nice to have genuine input.
I'll definitely be coming back, probably not after 5 years again.

I had a very disappointing experience at Scripps Ranch Optometry. Our appointment was scheduled for 10:00 AM, but we didn't get to see the doctor at all -- by 10:50AM, we were still just waiting. The office was crowded, and patients were coming in and sitting around without being seen.
There was no modern technology -- everything was done on paper, and the initial exam was conducted by the assistant using very outdated equipment. The doctor was nowhere to be found; it wasn't even clear if they were in the office.
I also have a knee problem and needed to sit down, but all the chairs were taken, and no one offered any help or accommodation. The lack of organization and care for patients was very frustrating.
After spending nearly 50 minutes there without any exam or results, we finally asked them to cancel the appointment and left -- completely dissatisfied with the service. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this place at all.

I haven't replaced my glasses in forever and they helped me pick out a frame that looked great! I went through many frames but they were still very patient and willing to go through the trouble of finding the frame that fit my face perfectly. Very friendly and experienced in their field of profession :)

I didn't check reviews prior to making an appointment, but was surprised to see a 3 star rating after the fact. Our appointment was during a busier time in the day, so it was a bit crowded in the office since it's on the smaller side. However, even so, staff and doctor were pleasant and the appointment was completed without issue. I felt like the doctor was very competent and helpful. When calling to make the appointment, staff was very friendly and helpful, same at/during the appointment. Recommend and will continue going going here.

I was doubftul before going as most reviews said bad things about the staff. When I called a nice person answerd and go me scheduled right away. When I went to the office all staff was nice and welcoming. The Dr seems very experienced in what he is doing and I love they have XL glasses for my big head LOL. Other offices usually only have medium sizes. Overall I am glad to be part of this practice now.

I found this office through my insurance as they are one of the few in San Diego that accept medical insurance. I came here in the past over a year ago and had a not so good experience with the employees, so we started going to Costco instead.
We decided to give them another shot recently as they are close and accept our insurance, and we are so glad we did. The difference in employees is like night and day. The two staff in the front, Davina and Luan, are so informed and patient, answered all of our questions thoroughly. We had to bring my son back for a medical visit, and they helped explained every step to ease our concerns and worries. They had a wide selection of frames to pick from that were covered by insurance, so we did not have to pay anything out of pocket. It's nice to see that some offices still have that as an option.
Dr. Phung is very professional and provided a very full, comprehensive examination both times. You can tell that he loves his job and is passionate about his work.
