I had a great experience at the eyeglass clinic inside Walmart in San Diego. They have a really good selection of glasses to choose from, and the prices are very reasonable compared to other places I've checked. The whole process was smooth, efficient, and well organized.
Kayla, the optician, was outstanding. She was very professional, knowledgeable, and took the time to explain everything clearly. She also spoke great Spanish, which made communication easy and comfortable. Overall, I'm very happy with the service and would definitely recommend this location to anyone looking for quality eyewear at a fair price!
I came back to get new glasses from Sandra who was off. Kayla helped me and wouldn't let me get just anything that wasn't a good fit for my face. Kayla is absolutely AMAZING!

No wonder this office has such a poor rating!
As I have not had bad experiences with Walmart, I assumed of course the standards would be upheld in the Vision Center....they aren't!
The cold attitude within their office speaks to the customer to beware. I failed to listen to these warnings. After an examination, I received a prescription which included a "prism". (never heard of it) A prism is designed to strengthen eye muscles to help with the triangulation. It creates a very uncomfortable experience initially, but it seems to subside.
However, on two separate occasions, my eyes suddenly became cross-eyed over a 6 month period. I returned and the Optometrist changed my prescription removing the prism. (no apology)
Then, in his zeal to get rid of me, he neglected to complete his hand written prescription, but sent me on my way. On the next day, I discovered his negligent effort only with the eye-glass center to replace the Prism-prescription. Imagine!
He didn't even write in the + .25 or whatever was needed.
I called on a Thursday to get them to fax immediately the completed prescription to me only to hear this optometrist is out till Monday. Worse, they didn't care one bit about the ongoing inconvenience. (fooled me twice, Im done)
Not a great place. I've had several unpleasant experiences. Keep going back due to proximity and price. You get what you pay for. One time, I went to pick up contacts. The women at the very front tried to stop me from walking into the eye area where they sell glasses. Like I had to go through them instead of just walking in and browsing. They became VERY angry when I went straight to the counter to pick up my contacts, like a normal person in a normal place. Another time, in the actual office, I was early for 11am appt, but had to wait another forty to fifty minutes. On top of this, the optometrist experiments with my vision. I've ALWAYS worn a 9.0 but he insists I wear an 8.5. So my vision is always wonky with the contacts he prescribes, even though I've brought my glasses for reference. The 'receptionist' is also rude and unfriendly but that's San Diego for you.
The first time I came in they put my name and email wrong in the system and gave me a printout with someone else's name on the receipt. When I returned to pick up the frame
I wanted to exchange them for another and they gave me this idiotic explanation for not being able to do it right then. I have had a very bad experience both times! I'm never going back to this place!
Most workers are polite. The two doctors I've experienced over a three year period were knowledgeable. However, My two most recent experiences, have made me decide not to go back to them anymore. I will pick up my last pair of glasses that were ordered. I do appreciate the customer service of the assistant manager, via telephone. Also, for some reason, the two boxes of contact lenses that I ordered at the same time, have expiration dates, two years apart.
Called 40 minutes prior to closing and refused to answer the phone. So I got this nice lady phone operator Peggy who "when to go check and said it was closed" I replied with "Oh thats odd it says online it closes at 7pm" ... dead silence for about 10 seconds. She then proceeded to say "let me check" which I wait for what seems about 1min. Then Peggy on the other end says " Oh they close at 6pm" Honestly I was there about 8 days ago which the Asian older lady told me it was 7pm!... If you don't want to work then go home! I needed an answer to a simple question. Very poor customer service from their end.
Old hagrid grumpy witch name Sandra which I believe is the manager took my prescription and order. She was pleasant as I was exchanging money for her services. But that was about it.
1. Glasses came late from the factory but never a call telling me they were there kept having to pester the workers for them
2. Glasses came and the prescription was incorrect.
3. Came back to exchange and all Sandra do was Deny Deny deny. That they had any wrong doing. And reassured me my prescription was correct.
4. Called back in and sure enough it was off by an axis of 20
5. Two months later I have one out of two pairs of my glasses with no call backs ever.
The other staff were friendly but they must have taken work ethic from the wicked witch Sandra. They need to stop being so cheap and just hire more people to help. Never ever coming back to this place. I would rather stare into the sun than to deal with Sandra and her staff again. If anyone is reading this that works there. Tell Sandra to kiss my blind no correct vision having a$$
Edit: so it was time to pick up my 2nd pair I walked in and sure enough they cancelled my order somehow. Figures
