I did my annual vision check at Ala Moana Advanced Eye Clinic in Honolulu and was quite impressed by the array of advanced equipment used for testing the health of my eyes. Once the testing was completed, Dr. Sakamoto sat with me and went through the test results explaining in detail to my satisfaction. It is also a one stop shop for all matters regarding your vision as I was able to check various glass frames and lenses and place order for my new pair of glasses. My new eye glasses was ready for pick up even before the due date. I can without any hesitation recommend this business service as the best place for vision care in Hawaii. It is best to go to the best vision care center for your precious eyes.
On a vacation to hawai, had a family member get an eye injury. Got the eye examined by Dr.Randall who was amazing. He did a comprehensive exam and explained the issue patiently.Highly recommend.
I usually never leave bad reviews (as you can see from my past ones), but this clinic truly deserves it. While the doctors themselves were fine, the front desk communication and service were the worst I've ever experienced.
From the start, I selected text as my preferred way of communication, yet all my messages were ignored. I had to text at least 3 times, days apart, just to get a response regarding my lens orders. Even when they finally placed the orders, the process was painfully slow, I once received my lenses almost two months later. This isn't just a clothing item or something optional, these are my everyday lenses that I rely on.
To make matters worse, in the beginning, they even gave me the wrong lenses. Overall, this is hands down the worst service I've ever experienced at a medical clinic.
Been coming here for a few years, having some gripes now since I'm under my own health insurance after being under my parent's.
Dr. Sakamoto and Dr. Kramer has taken well of me, they have the best equipment and always answered all of my questions of my eye health.
The receptionists however lack communication. I see them being changed out every couple years. When I made my appointment, I scheduled for an eye exam and to get a new pair of eyeglasses.
On the appointment day, I only paid for my eye exam and never mentioned anything about getting new eyeglasses, I had ask them after thinking about it in the parking lot on the phone. I thought eyeglasses were like a separate package of some sort, so I picked a glasses frame in the office and was told to wait for a week.
Waited about 2 weeks for my eyeglasses. I haven't heard from the optometrist for a while, so I called the receptionist to ask them if they were there, which there were. My last 4 pairs of glasses from here, they don't give your eye prescription immediately once you get your glasses, which is concerning.
I asked the receptionist if I could get my eyeglass prescription. She said she could email it to me, but the doctor needed to be there to get my information. The day I came to pick up my glasses was new year's eve, so the doctor wasn't here. I had to wait for a response from my email.
Waited another 3 weeks. Checked spam mails, whole inboxes, nothing. Called them again if they could give me my prescription, I was put on hold for 10 minutes. Getting irritated already.
Update: called again and said they're going to send the prescription through email the same day, I made sure if it was in any of my parent's emails, still nothing. It's also up to the doctor to give out your prescription. Already looking for another optometrist.
Speedy and efficient service by Ashley who swapped out ear pieces from my spare glasses. I was in a bind and couldn't leave. Thank you Ashley.
Highly recommend Dr. Sakamoto and his staff.
Everyone is very courteous and professional.
Dr. Sakamoto and his staff were also very thorough with my eye exam. Made me feel very confident that my vision and eyes are all AOK!
If you are feeling any kind of dry eye, I highly recommend going to Ala Moana Advanced Eye Clinic. Dry eye is a much more complicated issue than you may think. Dr. Sakamoto has all the knowledge and newest equipment for diagnosing your dry eye and successfully treating it. Plus, he is very congenial! Previously, when I saw my regular eye doctor about the dry eye, they just prescribed Restasis for me, which is a band aid type medication and doesn't get at the root of the issue. I hated the Restasis. My eyes stung 24/7 for eight years before I found Dr. Sakamoto. Now I am off medication and my eyes are doing great, even with a job that has me on the computer alot.
Dr. Randall Sakamoto of the Ala Moana Advanced Eye Clinic is a gem in Waikiki!
The modern diagnostic equipment made for a touch-less and comfortable visit. In addition to my eye exam, we discussed my eye health, and supplemental care measures such as diet and daily fish oil supplements.
The office also carries a wide inventory of lenses for reducing exposure to blue light from LED monitors and phone screens.
I had a great visit and felt special because of the way I was treated, and I'm sure you will like Dr. Sakamoto and his efficient staff.
I was only disappointed in the fees I was charged. Before the eye exam I was told at the front desk it would cost $150.00
After the exam I was charged over $450.00 for additional tests. I wish I was informed of the additional costs during the exam.
