Dr. Ron Winkelman & Associates

Doctor barely gave me the time of day, 5 minute exam. Actually said "I bet this is your new prescription but we can test you if you want," then proceeded to go way too fast through the whole thing. Shocker, when I get my new glasses the prescription is off and makes me dizzy for weeks. Anyway, off to get a new prescription at a doctor that actually wants to do his job. Oh, and the prescription he wrote was incomplete, he didn't added distances at all, nice.

They have three locations. I assumed I was scheduling for the Waipio location for an optical appointment and when I arrive they don't have me scheduled. Turns out I was scheduled at the Honolulu location. The receptionist acts dumbfounded like I don't know how that happened. Well I'll tell you exactly how it happened because when I looked up Costco optical you have your office number the one in Honolulu attached to the office directory listing for Waipio. I am sure I am not the only customer this has happened to. So while you are sitting there doing nothing because I didn't show up to my appointment take some time to edit the directory on the Costco website.

I have seen Dr. Ron Winkelman for almost 10 years now at the Costco Optical and I can sing this guy's praises all the way to Mount Kilimanjaro. What a gem! I truly appreciate when a Dr. can explain the complex aging process my eyes are going through in a way I can understand. Professional yet personable and I hope Costco keeps him forever! I couldn't be more content with my Optometrist. Two thumbs WAY UP!!!

Office staff was very kind and accommodating when I changed my appointment 3 times. Before I went to Dr. Winkelman for contact lens prescription, I went to see this female optometrist 3 times to make my prescription right, but she failed to do so. Dr Winkelman fix it in the first try. He is knowledgeable and competent. I will recommend him to those who are looking for a good optometrist.

I have been seeing Dr. Ron Winkleman for a very long time and never have issues with the prescription he hands me. He is the only reason that I still go to that busy Costco location. It is so stressful to go there for me, but for once a year it is fine. Honest, knowledgeable, and straightforward type of person. He is very busy so don't expect him to take a long time with you chatting about your entire life. He checks my eyes thoroughly with all the up to date equipments he owns and gives me the correct prescription for my eyes. He does exactly what I am there for so that is why I am still his patient.

I've been going to the same ol' local optometrist for years... He always takes his time and doesn't mind leaving me out in the waiting room for 15 - 20 mins while he does whatever until he gets me. The last couple of times I didn't feel like the contact lens were right for me but he insisted they were the best for me, and they might have been at the time... But it was a stark difference with Dr. Ron. His office had me in and out with contact lens in my eyes that fit well and weren't blurry. He even told me how to put them in correctly, which my old doctor never bothered to. This is meant to be a good review for Dr. Ron and not a bad review for my old Dr so I digress with the differences. Bottom line this was the best experience I've had with eye care. I will be returning to him every year.

Such a great and professional, kind and caring eye doctor. Dr.Ron takes his time to make sure you are taken care of and understand what is going on with your eyes. He is professional, warm and patient. Perhaps the only optometrist I have seen that I will actually remember. We arrived a bit late and he was still able to see us and didn't make us feel bad about it. He also made my daughter feel comfortable during her visit and was friendly and nice . I only continue to come here because of how good the service is.

We were visiting Oahu for vacation. Our 3 year old daughter had very blood shot eyes for several days. We were concerned she might have an infection. Dr Winkelman saw us with NO appointment and between appointments. He did all the tests and stuff. Turns out she had a sunburn on her eye ball. Gave us recommendations for eye ointment. He was very nice and understanding to our child. Very nice fella. Thank you for the help
