My first appointment with Hawaii Eye Institute was with Dr Marisa Kim OD. Dr Kim conducted a very thorough eye exam and I was impressed with her acumen and diligence. She clearly explained her exam findings and the issues pertaining to my eyes. I felt thankful for her service. The whole visit experience to Hawaii Eye Institute was great!

Hawaii Eye Institute exceeded every expectation. Dr. Kim and her team were amazing, thorough, and incredibly transparent throughout the entire visit. They took extra time to explain preventative steps for the future and shared encouraging insight on how treatments continue to evolve. The results from my bilateral cataract surgery with Dr. Schmidt far exceeded my post surgical expectations. At 74, I am now able to see 20/20 both near and far and he was even able to correct my lifelong astigmatism which limited my vision even with the best contacts. My quality of life has vastly improved as my activities have increased. I can drive and walk safely in daylight and dark and even read the small print on my prescriptions with ease. I have worked in Ophthalmology for over 35 years and this is the most efficient ophthalmologist office I've ever been in. Dr. Schmidt is such an incredible doctor. I had cataract surgery in both eyes and can see 2025 without correction in my distance! I happily recommend Dr. Schmidt to anyone considering cataract surgery or needing general ophthalmology care. He actually listens to the patient!!
