Dr. John Whitney did an eye exam on my 15 year old yesterday. This man is a treasure. He was very kind and did a thorough exam.
He then found an issue that requires follow up (possible Glaucoma). It is very treatable but could cause permanent damage without treatment. And there are no symptoms until later. He took me aside and explained a complex problem in a way to make me understand. If he had not been so careful in his exam and his TEACHING THE MOM... then I might have thought "Oh, this means if her vision gets worse it could be Glaucoma."
He made it clear "This is not an emergency, but this requires follow up.
This could cause preventable damage."

The doctor was very informative and was able to answer my questions and provide me with so much more knowledge about my overall eye health and not just helping me see clearer.
