I was very nervous about LASIK but I was so tired of contacts and glasses. My eye doctor for my prescription recommended against LASIK but when I found it they do it at Kellogg eye center I thought it was worth a consultation. Dr Hood was absolutely amazing at the consultation. He gave me all the facts and his recommendation which meant a lot to me. I had the surgery done last December and I wish I did it sooner. My experience was so good with Dr Hood, when my father heard about it he changed his scheduled cornea transplant to be done by Dr Hood as well. That also went flawlessly. He is an amazing doctor and a wonderful person. His staff is friendly and efficient, too.

Had a fantastic experience at Kellogg Eye Center and underwent Lasik with Dr. Hood. I was terribly nervous, but he talked me through the procedure while we were in the procedure room and his bedside manner is 10/10. If you've ever had a bad experience with any physician, regardless of how excellent they are at their specialty, you know how important this piece is. I felt more than comfortable putting my eyesight in the hands of this specialist.

Had LASIK with Dr. Hood a month ago to treat my high myopia with astigmatism. He took his time to answer all of my questions and go through the procedure and what to expect. His staff was knowledgable and helpful. I could not recommend him enough. I'm now 1 month post surgery and my vision is perfect with no problems. I've been recommending Dr. Hood to all of my friends!

Scammy, Scammy, Scammy! Stay clear of this center! I would rate this office as a negative number if possible. Years ago my kids were screened and treated for cancer of the eye with Dr. Stephen Archer and despite long waits, the care was second to none. Unfortunately that level of talent and care no longer exists at the U of M Kellogg eye center. Sad. My son was referred to Dr. Hood following exams by a fellow ophthalmologist at the Canton location and a separate appointment with the optometrist at Kellogg for a contact fitting. His medical record states his astigmatism is an "8" and the info below readily available on Google indicates he would not be a candidate for surgery. Of course we were not notified of this fact prior to his visit. I guess it is the patient that should know this and not the trained professional with all the medical records. Basically he had no need to be evaluated. But this office just collects fees when they knowingly cannot medically assist the patient or they are too incompetent to read his file. We arrived on time for the 8:00am appointment. His portal confirmed his appointment with no mention of any fee due and stated to plan on a 90 minute timeframe. He was confronted with a $95 up front fee that he was told would be applied to his surgery within one year. Once he was shuffled through the cattle herding process, he was then told the fee was good for 6 months. After waiting for over 90 minutes to be seen by the doctor and very confused by all the misinformation, we requested a refund. A long BS speech was made that the doctor would be conducting a thorough medical exam blah blah blah. Shame on us for agreeing to miss our next appointment. Magically he was seen by the doctor, told there was no way he would ever have been a candidate, and on the front steps to be picked up 6 minutes later!!!! Now we paid $95 to have an unnecessary and redundant exam which also caused us to miss a second appointment to actually address the headaches, dizziness and recent fainting spells. When I called to complain and ask for a refund, I was told that he had an exam to screen him for surgery so there would be no refund. I never write reviews good or bad and it takes a lot to push me this far but I sincerely do not want anyone else to be treated in this manner. If you think you may be helped here, great, but be sure what you are walking into. This was worse than the time share scam seminars that I have attended in the past. Shameless. Lastly, I was told the doctor would call to speak with me and yet he did not and sent his office staff to once again give an explanation as to why he and his staff are so knowledgeable and competent and how we were to blame because we asked for the services. Hogwash!!! This was a referral. The final call to my son was a tech is laughable since she asked him if he needed a new prescription for glasses. Of course this is only ridiculous when you know he is not a candidate for glasses according to the wonderful medical staff and not a candidate for the surgery that might allow him to wear glasses. I was later told on the phone that the doctor did need to see him to make the determination. Well I guess we are all idiots because we do not need a medical degree to figure out that an examination is not needed if your astigmatism is so bad that you would never qualify. Again...scam. This is a kid with medical issues and on the autistic spectrum with no income. Who are these monsters? Make your own decision.

Everything about my experience with Dr Hood is excellent. As a retired physician I have an eye for how an office is run and his is top notch.

Both my husband and I have been to Dr. Hood He has listened and answered questions. Very professional. Great results.

keep me waiting for over 1 hr and then spent 5 mins with me, no interest in hearing my complaints on dry eye, and cannot explain my concerns. Feel the money is wasted
