Grand Rapids Ophthalmology

This was such a horrible experience that I just ended up going to Costco and paying out of pocket for glasses. I have never needed glasses before and this was my first experience. I went to my own doctor and had prescription in hand. I called G.R. Ophthalmology twice to schedule appointment. I gave the gentleman all my insurance details and he helped me schedule an appointment at the walker office. When I arrived for appointment the person helping me was struggling to look up insurance on computer and eventually called someone else over but gave them bad information. Based on this information I was told I needed to go to a different location. I reluctantly went there, the manager and a worker there looked me up and said that I didn't need to go there and it could have all been done at the previous location. I decided to just go to Costco and purchase two pairs of glasses instead of using my insurance to get the "free" pair through G.R. Ophthalmology. I had no confidence in these people and they seemed confused and really didn't want to sort out their mistakes. At the end of the day, I think I'll be much happier with Costco frames/glasses and next time I'll just order online with another company. **Note the two stars ratings was due to the manager at different location trying her best to make right all the other issues, otherwise I'd rate it one star**

Recommend going else where! Called and told them my eye was getting worse my vision was now blurry. I called at 830 am Thursday to let them know. I called again around 2:30 to see what was going on. I was told the dr still hadn't looked at the message. She was going to send another one. It took until 11:38 friday for them to FINALLY call me back. I was in a lot of pain light sensitivity and now blurry vision. I was forced to seek medical attention elsewhere! Sad that this office is ran like this with zero care!

Never adjust my glasses, a co worker's husband was trying on his glasses before me. She adjusted his glasses, measured to make certain script was was correct place, asked if he was happy...she handed me my glasses with a great big smudge on them, and acted like I was expecting too much for her to wipe it off. Second time I've come here and received POOR customer service. Won't be back.

I had an appointment scheduled for 4 PM. I arrived 10 minutes early and got checked in. I proceeded to wait until 430 to get back into a room. I was only brought back to room after asking how much longer it was going to take and telling them I might just leave, they rushed me back there and proceed with my exam. The doctors were very nice and answered all my questions during the exam. After the exam I went to check out it was 5:10 PM and the glasses area was closed. I asked about it and was told Yep they closed at five and I got a little frustrated and asked them what I should do and that I'd like to get glasses since I had my appointment scheduled at four, but didn't get brought back till 430 and that wasn't my fault. She told me I could come back anytime or call ahead and make an appointment just for glasses. I was extremely disappointed and I told them that this experience was horrible. I will not go back. 0/10

Fast and friendly staff, small office, and a timely visit made my appointment enjoyable. Dr. Wilke went far above and beyond trying to help me figure out my mid-40's presbyopia needs in multiple ways. He was very professional and courteous and did not seem rushed. I'll absolutely schedule with him at the Wilson office again!

Elizabeth is great! When picking out glasses she is helpful and gets what you like and don't like. She is wonderful at explaining medical coverage. Other people are friendly, but do not share her expertise.

They have a new customer for life! Everyone at that office is very nice and treats you well. They got me a great pair of sunglasses for cheap using my insurance and a year supply of contacts for only $20! Not only that but these are the most comfortable contacts I have ever worn. They must have some sort of test they do that can tell what the best fitting contacts would be.

Very very poor customer service especially during the pandemic. I stopped in to get a refill of My endless A/R lens cleaner. The receptionist took it to the back and it took way longer than it should have. When she did appear I asked if I can have my glasses Tightened real quick while I'm here and she looked at me and said "by appointment only"! I thought, the glasses I purchased from you I cannot stop in and have them tighten without an appointment? I left and went to another eye place were they were more than willing even at no charge and no appointment to tighten my glasses. This place used to be a kind family business, not sure what happened but now you are just a number. Would NOT RECOMMEND
