I appreciate them squeezing me in for an emergency procedure. Dr. DeHorn and the rest of the team I encountered were all so kind and courteous and made me feel at ease. I was super nervous, but I felt like I was in good hands after meeting Dr. DeHorn. She showed me photos of my retina and explained the issue and how she was going to fix it. The procedure itself was pretty painless. I highly recommend and want to assure anyone who has been diagnosed with a torn retina that the procedure isn't bad at all.

This was my first visit to Retina Specialists of Michigan and Dr. Kathleen DeHorn since my previous provider's office closed. I have been dealing with retina issues for more than 30 years, and this was the most positive, over-all such experience I have ever had. Dr. DeHorn's technician team was outstanding: Not only were they thorough, they took the time to answer my questions about the technology involved, and talk with me as a fellow human. They mirrored Dr. DeHorn's approach: Direct, knowledgeable, actively listening and responding with much-appreciated flashes of humor. Despite it being a busy day, she patiently answered all of my questions and included explanations with understandable visuals. She deepened my understanding of my eye issue, and created the feeling we are working together as a team. She sees beyond the patient to the human, a rare and valuable ability, particularly in a surgeon.

I couldn't be happier with the outcome of my vitrectomy procedures . Dr. Westhouse is very personable and communicates all the details of the procedures and post case very clearly. The support staff at Retina Specialists also deserve a big thumbs-up for their assistance and care. I highly recommend Dr. Westhouse and Retina Specialists.

Teo stars because Dr. Bever is nice and gives very comfortable injections. Zero stars beyond that as there is no customer service. It is seemingly impossible to reach the office to speak to anyone. Once, after being on hold for 30 minutes I was told that I'd get a call back to reschedule an appointment. Two weeks layer I drove to thr office to get the appointment. I filled out papers for prescription assistance for my very expensive eye medication FOUR months ago and there has been no follow up. My balance owed just keeps rising rapidly. Today, I have a sudden vision change with a large floater area in my right eye. I selected "sudden vision change" from the phone options. 1st call I spent 10 minutes on hold and the call suddenly ended. The second call 28 minutes and disconnected. Currently 3rd call and 20 minutes in. Looks like my wife will be driving me there so I can speak to a human. I feel that this practice doesn't care about my health, financial situation or general well being.

We came in for an appointment at 9:55 AM. They did not take us back to a room until 10:40 AM. And it is now noon. And we're still sitting in a room waiting for someone to come see us. So if you're in a hurry, I don't suggest you come here. They will leave you sitting in a room. When I ask how much longer they always just say you're next. So two thumbs down. Our time is important too.

This place is the slowest place I have ever went to. You schedule an appointment and you wait over an hour. They bring you back for a sec and then you are back waiting. Every appointment has been AT LEAST two to two and a half hours. They just say they are really busy. Try not over scheduling your staff. Quality or quantity works better. I am going to look for someone else. It's ridiculous.

I want to start by saying I'm extremely easygoing and very understanding when businesses get busy. I've never left a bad review before in my life. I am completely understanding of the fact that things happen and am willing to give a lot of grace- but this experience has been absolutely ridiculous. My rheumatologist sent a referral in July. When I first called, they could see the referral and told me the scheduler would call me back by the end of the week (no problem at all!) When I didn't hear back, I called again the next week and got the same response- also no problem. I gave it a couple weeks, called again, and was told the same thing. Still no call. By the time I followed up again, I was told my referral had expired. I kindly had my rheumatologist send another referral over, and the same thing happened- I was assured someone would call me by the end of the week, but no one ever did. When I asked when I should call back if I didn't hear anything, they told me the following Wednesday. I waited, called back, and once again and nothing. At that point, I gave up. The lack of follow-through and basic communication is completely unacceptable.

I've been a patient for a couple years now. I'm not sure when it really started to suck but a year ago I called to reschedule an appointment. It was sent to scheduling, who was supposed to call me to reschedule. It never happened. I've tried calling and spent over an hour in hold. Now, I was treated at the Grand Rapids office and was to schedule another appointment for the following month. Somehow without my knowledge it consent, it was scheduled for a different doctor at a location 50 miles from my home. This place needs to get their act together.
