This is my personal review of the medical practice and the opinions of the practice are based on my personal experience under the Freedom of Speech in Texas, and is protected by both the U.S. Constitution (First Amendment) and the Texas Constitution (Article 1, Sections 8 & 27). My view of the good and bad of this medical practice:
Good- The Opthamologist Technician provided an exceptional eye exam on behave of the physician. The physician assessment and care was excellent. The technology was exceptional.
Bad: The front office staff are HORRIBLE!
They changed my appointment and failed to notify me. I showed up after taking time off from my work without an appointment. The receptionist stated that the physician had to go out of town. That would be fine if I had been notified. Changing an appointment and failing to notify the patient is NEVER OK. There initial response was to make another appointment. I asked why I was not notified of the change. The manager (next to the receptionist) stated that she could help me. She looked at the screen and stated that we contacted you on a certain date, and we could not reach you. I stated did you leave a message. She stated, that the notation does not state that.
I informed her that I do have confidential voicemail and if they had called, I would have seen the name on my caller ID. Given that most people work during normal business hours, the correct process would be to leave a voicemail for a return call. She actually stated to me that I need to answer my phone!
She went to the back and came back that they could "work" me in. This would have been appreciated if she hadn't just been unprofessional to me.
The practice apparently doesn't need referrals or patients. If you would like to be disrespected by the front desk "team", please make an appointment. If you would like professional service throughout the patient experience, please give yourself the gift of time and peace by finding another service to use for your eye care needs. There are many providers in Corpus Christi and I have cancelled my follow up appointment with this practice never to return.
This place is great if you have 3 hours to spare. I found out that they are taking appointments every 15 minutes and they only have 3 doctors. If you do the math, that is 32 patients a day per doctor. Medicare, insurance companies look into this. I would gladly send them a bill for the extra hours I spent there. My hours are just as valuable. There were elderly waiting in wheelchairs. They were passing out snacks knowing full well that you needed some sort of nourishment while you waited. They have 4 waiting areas. You go to one and wait, they move you to a second one and you wait and then you go to the third one and wait for them to call you in to see the doctor and again you wait for him to come in. Then, the doctor comes and has the nerve to tell you he is sorry when he is the one in control. He apologized only because after waiting the 3 hours I threatened to walk out. My recommendation is find another place where the doctors truly care for their patients. They rate on the negative. Please think carefully before picking them as your doctor.
I've been coming here since 2018. and I used to highly recommend this place! but After today ! I'm leaving this place ! Nothing but Terrible counter and phone customer service ! and Long waiting times !

Im ust trying to help all those honest people that go to TEC and might be getting cheated! Thank you for reading this .
Expect to wait an hour or more in the lobby then another 20 minutes once in the exam room. This is the kind of doctors office where you should show up 45 minutes late so you don't have to wait for a long time. Very inconsiderate to think it's ok to treat patients this way. Every time it's always the same show up on time and wait over an hour to be seen
I think the doctors at this practice are good, especially Dr.Mijka. I credit him with saving my eye. My lower rating reflects things that have happened in the practice since he has been on leave for over a year. Since then, I have seen other doctors. They walk in unaware of background conditions that clearly affect my eye care and often seem unaware of medicine directives that I received prior, from them. I appreciate the number of patients they have but it feels odd, for example, to be blamed for the effects of the use of a drop that I was directed to use in a specific way, by that same person at the last visit. That's not why I scored them low though...here's why. I have a challenging airway for surgery. Despite this, we have made it through a cornea transplant and a stitch removal at the surgery center the practice uses. I now need a cataract removed and one of the doctors at the practice let me know that it shouldn't be a problem because I don't need to be put under full anesthesia for that, so I can breathe on my own throughout the process. I went through all my appointments and got scheduled. The surgery center called me and cancelled the procedure because their anesthesiologist was afraid of my airway issue. Now, I appreciate that is not the fault of doctors at the eye practice. It's ridiculous, but it's not their fault. This is though. After being my eyecare place through almost losing my eye, a cornea transplant, etc., I called them to find out what to do since the procedure wouldn't be done at the surgery center. They transferred me to a person who just basically said, "Sorry. We can't help you." I asked if one of the doctors at the practice could contact the anesthesia team at the surgery center and explain that they don't have to establish an airway for this procedure. No. I asked if there was a hospital where the procedure could be done. No. I asked if there was another doctor in the area with hospital privileges that they could refer me to, and was told I could just call around and find one. Which, I guess I will. If I ever face further complications with the cornea, it would appear they can't help me, which is disappointing, because again, Dr. Mijka is an excellent doctor. All of the doctors in the practice seem to know their stuff [even if they don't always make good visit notes or re-read them prior to the next visit], but beware if you need guidance for an odd issue like I have. You may find yourself on your own.
I really don't have words enough to describe my experience. The facility is exceptionally clean and well organized. ALL of the staff from beginning to end were courteous and efficient in their position. During my years of nursing I worked with numerous physicians. Dr. Majka is one of the best, very talented. He explained all my procedures, asked if I had questions and would let me answer. His quiet, gentle manner just makes a patient feel comfortable, safe and cared for. All of my procedures have been successful.
Everyone was professional, friendly and compassionate! While getting taped down to prepare me for surgery, I had an intense panic attack. I was impressed at how it was handled. Dr Harvey, the RN and the MA all understood and did not dismiss it as insignificant. They untaped my head and allowed me to calm myself down. Before i knew it, I was getting ready to go home. I thank everyone involved. I appreciated how you made me feel.
Dr. Bond really goes through thoroughly with what you have going on with your eyes. Not only will he give a prognosis you can understand, but also provides a clear directive on a course of action most suitable for you to follow to get your vision back the best way. Even when the office is completely full, there's staff that still comes around to explain what's going reminding you that you've not been forgotten. Not to mention the ease of making appointments is utterly convenient. It is no wonder that every time I go, everyone there is in a good mood.
