Costco Optical Department

The first time I came to get my eyes checked dr lloyd was pretty impatient with me on my eye test and was pretty demeaning with his answers to my questions. Gave him some grace and figured he was just having a bad day. Today I came back because my prescription seemed too strong and was making me motion sick. He right away was critical with me not giving my eyes enough time to adjust to my glasses, which honestly I was fine with that feedback it's the fact that he was so irritated and talked to me like I was an idiot for not knowing that. It's my first time having glasses, had no idea what the protocols are, if it's that irritating you should have told me that at my first appointment? He then was super irritated by the fact that I didn't buy my glasses from Costco. Before I even had a chance to explain why he ranted that other places will have "cheap frames made somewhere like Tijuana" and tried to make me feel guilty for using their low optical prices but not buying glasses from them. Buddy I looked and couldn't find frames I liked! Even more funny I ended up buying a pair that were more expensive than the styles I tried on at Costco because they were nicer and looked better! Would have been happy to buy the glasses I have if Costco carried them. I'll also pay more elsewhere to get my eyes checked from now on if it means I'm not scolded like a child by a doctor. I own a business in the service industry and when I have employees with attitudes like his we usually let them go and encourage them to find a job that doesn't involve customer service. Hope he can speak a little kinder and be a little more patient moving forward. Everyone else in the optical department was super nice and great.

Made an appt here for my husband for contacts. He goes to the VA for eye exams, and wanted to get contacts. When we called to make the appt, I explained that he had an eye exam 6 months ago at the VA. I was told, that's just fine! As long as long as he has the info, they won't need to do a health exam, just a contact fitting appt, so would be less expensive. Sounded perfect, made the appt. We live in Stockton, it was an hour drive to get there. I was told in the phone twice his appt was at 1:40, he was called the day before and told again it was at 1:40. We get there to be told his appt was at 12:40. We were both shocked and told the nice gal up front what happened, and before she could even say anything to us, another man (assuming an optometrist or something similar) tall man on a stool in the exam room, chimed in and said "too bad, be have someone booked for 1:40, so we can't take you unfortunately " ok, that's fine, mistakes happen. I'm an MA for a family medicine office, so I get it! I asked the girl if she had anything for later in the day, and before she could answer once again, he comes out towards us and starts getting super defensive and acting like we are making a scene. My husband was able to get a few words in, but this man was def not going to let the wife talk AT ALL! He didn't want to hear what I wanted to say or the front desk gal. This man was beyond RUDE to us! I asked twice if there was an appt later in the day and i understood mistakes were made. I was trying to tell him what we were told when I called to make the appt and he said we were given wrong information, try at they only accept eye exams within 3 months, not 1 year and since his last exam was 6 months ago he would need a full exam. I tried to explain to him when I called we were told that each optometrist makes their sched and I was sent to her to make the appt. Should be easy to find out who I spoke to with that info. He just said , well, I don't know who you spoke to but you got wrong information. He just kept repeating himself, being rude, not letting the wife speak, and at that point my husband had enough of this man treating me with such disrespect, my husband said "forget it, we will go someplace else" The girl at the front desk was nice, but couldn't even speak. This man has a serious power trip problem, disrespectful towards women, very rude, even when we were willing to understand a mistake was made and see if we could go get lunch and come back. Nope! He just treated us awful and we will NEVER be back!!!

The glasses break so easily. I have replaced so many glasses in the two years since my son started wearing glasses. Every time I bring the lenses back they never have the same frames forcing you to buy all new glasses. It's so annoying. They called me saying my frames were in and then they couldn't find them. Chey was super rude and not personable. Finally finds them and they aren't the right frames for the lenses. I'm leaving and Cheys like do you want your lenses and I'm like "what am I supposed to do with them?" They are useless. And she just gave me this look like I'm the rudest person ever when seriously what am I supposed to do with lenses that she was saying are laser cut specifically for each frame and the frame is no longer available when they said they had them and then gave us the wrong one. Just frustrated with their optical scam constantly getting new frames and giving low quality product so you are constantly replacing.

So far so good. They had a buy one get one free deal for glasses lenses. That's so helpful! They helped my daughter and even offered a sucker. lol. It was a good experience for her.

Most painless doc visit ever. I was late and they didn't say a word, just got me in and out super quick. Doc seemed very efficient and both were pleasant. Also the lowest priced Costco eye exam I could find.

I've been coming to Costco for years for my glasses and contacts! I have always had a pleasant experience and the prices are unmatched here! When I arrived Grant was able to help me. He seem annoyed and was very unhelpful when I asked basic questions. I ended up walking always and doing other shopping when I came back Grant was no where to be seen. The Optical was pretty busy so I waited to be helped by the other worker. Thank goodness I walked away from Grant because Tori was amazing! She was so kind, fast and helpful. She was able to help me find better deals for my contacts and also gave me some good ideas to save money next time! Tori deserves a 5/5! Grant a 0/5

Have been going to this doctor for a couple years, and it's been ok. My latest appointment was with a doctor who was filling in, and it was fantastic! 5 stars for the part time doc here. He answered all my questions that the usual doctor couldn't be bothered with answering. Helped me actually understand my eye health. The young man at the desk was great and friendly and helpful. I actually recently went in when Costco made a mistake and ordered the wrong contacts. I went in and got it taken care of and they said I was welcome to step into the optometry office to switch them out quick. I did this, and it took all of 30 seconds. During that time, the doctor came out and reprimanded me for using his table, and how dare I be there while he is in the middle of an appointment. I was not in a patient room, just the waiting room literally for less than a minute, by invitation no less. He was quite rude and didn't care why I was there, only that I was in his way. He definitely lost my business today. I'll go to another Costco for my eye appts from now on. Worth the drive to have someone who actually wants to help you have healthy eyes.

My Husband and I have gone there for several years, with just average, but not bad experiences. Well, that changed yesterday, if I could give 10 stars I would. We were helped by Ashley, who is the department manager, & it could not of been a more enjoyable experience. She was knowledgeable, helpful, and OH SO fun. I am grateful for her assistance. She does it the way its SUPPOSED to be done!!! Would HIGHLY recommend her to anyone going to Lehi Costco for their glasses.
