Excel Optical: Smalley Aaron D MD

Our family has been going to Dr. Smalley since our kids were very small (they're all grown up now). He is very professional and accurate. I highly recommend him. His front office staff has fluctuated over the years and can at times be frustrating, but Dr. Smalley truly is the best. He knows what he's doing.

Dr. Smalley did my husbands eye surgery. He did an excellent job. His follow up visits were timely. He is very kind and patient. We were both impressed.

Dr Smalley saw my son after he had a serious injury to his eye. He was professional and kind and helped answer all of our questions and put us at ease. Over the course of several weeks as my son's eye healed, Dr. Smalley consistently took extra time with us to make sure we understood the situation. He even came in on a Saturday so that my son's treatment would be uninterrupted by a long weekend. We appreciate Dr Smalley so much and attribute my son's full recovery to his diligent care.

Dr. Smalley and his staff were so wonderful!! The Dr. spent a great deal of time with us and answered all of our questions. He was very genuine and wanted us to feel good about the decisions we had made there. My daughter was getting contacts. Tayna was with us through the entire experience and was so attentive and kind to us. We are so glad we found this Doctor and his fabulous staff.

I've been going to him for years and would recommend him. Seems very good at his job and seems like a really nice guy. Sometimes it can be busy and I've had to wait before due to people coming in with an emergency. That can be expected and I'd sure hope he'd quickly see me if I had an emergency as well. I've never had issues with the contact/eyeglass prescriptions I've received and the prescriptions seem 'right on'. Nice office and nice staff, great location as well.

I didn't give a 5 stars not because of Dr. Smalley but because of front desk not following up so I could get my prescription. I suffer from dry eye. I made the appointment so I would be checked and get the medication I needed. The pharmacy let me know they needed a pre authorization from the doctor in order for prescription to be filled and that NEVER happened. I went to the office and the receptionists were at lunch. I was told my the person who was at the front desk covering during lunch and she assured me she would let the receptionists know. Nothing happened. I called Walgreens and they didn't have medication for me. I therefore canceled future appointment I had and also I canceled for my friend. So sorry because I really like this doctor. I have nothing against the doctor and he probably doesn't know he just lost two new patients. Thank you for your professionalism Dr. Smalley.

The past two times I have been we waited 1 hour and 53 min for Dr Smalley to come in the room. Today was 1 hour 18 min. Ridiculous! Both times I had to go to the dest to let them know I needed to be done. I gave him a 2 because he finally did check my sons eyes and gave him a prescription for glasses. He seemed good but the wait time is not worth it. I hate when Drs get mad if you are late and make you reschedule. What can I do about Drs who are late for my apt? Too bad I can't bill him for my waisted time just waiting in him. Sorry, I just cant go back. Don't say you were not warned.

Dr. Smalley saw me for an emergency appointment on a Saturday when no one was in the office. I had a loose stitch from a cornea transplant and he pulled it out and was very courteous and polite. It was very kind of him to come in just to see me, and I would recommend him to anyone.
