Arrogant and dismissive. Do not recommend.
I had a terrible experience with Dr. Lenart. His attitude was incredibly condescending from start to finish.
Lack of Attention: While asking about my child's symptoms, he wouldn't even turn his head to look at us. He was just focused on filling out his forms. He only performed a very brief check with a lens at the very end, but ignored everything else.
Refused Evidence: I had photos of my child's symptoms (which happen intermittently), but he refused to look at them. He told me to "just tell him the answer." A doctor should value all diagnostic information, not ignore it.
Extremely Impatient: He became visibly annoyed when I asked for the name of the eye drops he was using. When I called my wife to discuss the medication, he sarcastically said, "For the 3rd time, it's xxx drops."
His behavior toward me felt dismissive and culturally insensitive. I no longer trusted his judgment or his care for my child, so I terminated the visit and walked out. A medical degree is not an excuse for such poor bedside manner.
I wish I had read the other reviews before coming. Just like other parents mentioned, Dr. Lenart has zero bedside manner and treats patients like numbers on a spreadsheet.
02/27: the response below confirms his arrogance.
Staff Cleared the Visit: My arrival was approved by the front desk. Lateness is no excuse for a doctor to refuse basic clinical observation.
Refusal of Evidence: I didn't 'fail' to provide info; the doctor refused to look at the photos of symptoms I brought.
Safety First: Asking for the name and purpose of Dilating Drops before they are put in my child's eyes is my legal right, not 'indecisiveness.'
I walked out because a doctor who won't look at the patient or explain medication cannot be trusted with my child's safety."
I can't say enough good things about Dr. Lenart. From the first visit, he genuinely cared about me as a person?asked about my life and my kids, and actually listened. He got me scheduled for surgery within two weeks, which was such a relief, and the whole process felt smooth and well-coordinated. What really stood out was that he gave me his personal cell number to contact him with any post-op issues?that level of care is rare. He is incredibly experienced, compassionate, and professional. If you?re looking for an eye doctor who truly goes above and beyond, Dr. Lenart is the one!!
PARENTS- SEEK CARE ELSEWHERE.
We were referred by our pediatrician to seek out a pediatric ophthalmologist to look into our 1 year old daughter's watery eyes due to a narrowed tear duct.
I am appalled at Dr. Lenart's terrible bedside manner and the treatment we received at the clinic.
When I called to make this appointment I made it clear to the staff member helping me that if the appointment wasn't one for an intervention and just a consultation I would rather have a phone or telehealth consultation with the provider in order to avoid driving 200 miles just to have a conversation. Because we were being examined for a very minor issue (excessive tearing due to lacrimal duct stenosis), there is nothing the doctor could not have seen via video or photos that he could have examined in the clinic since our daughter's only symptom is excessive tearing. We drove 200 miles for a 5 minute conversation where we were told that the appointment was unnecessary, and that we could "wait it out" until the child is 18. Why we couldn't have been told this over the phone or telehealth flabbergasts me.
As far as bedside manner, Dr. Lenart was inappropriate from the beginning of the appointment. He called us out of the lobby and didn't even introduce himself. We were brought back to the exam room and I was unsure if he was a medical assistant or the actual provider until a couple of minutes into the exam when I finally asked him "I'm sorry, what was your name again?" And he responded "I'm doctor Lenart." He then proceeded to coldly examine my child without ever introducing himself to her or having any child, age-appropriate interactions with her to put her at ease or make it a positive experience.
When I asked him about potential interventions related to my child's diagnosis, he described how he would do a procedure called probing without any anesthesia or sedation before 18 months of age because "the child wouldn't remember it anyway." He said he would use a tight swaddle and just keep them from moving too much. He also told me I "could be in the room for the procedure if you wanted, as long as you wouldn't pass out."
I work in pediatrics and can honestly say I have never encountered another pediatric provider with such callous uncaring interactions with a child. We will not be returning to this clinic for any follow up care whatsoever and I advise parents to stay far away and seek care elsewhere.
Start to finish visits and surgery with Dr Tom Lenhart were exceptional and would highly recommend him for any eye issues you might have. He is a very caring and compassionate person as well as call you to see how you're doing and if there's anything else he can do for you . Too bad it only lets you give a 5 star rating . As pleased as I am with what he did to correct my double vision in my right eye he well deserves a 10 star rating !!
Dr. Lenart is amazing!! He was professional, nice, and took the best care of our little guy!! Highly recommend him for anyone who needs eye care. We are very thankful we found him.
Today's visit with Dr Lenart was excellent and given great information to myself and my wife after my exam. Took his time with my visit and offered what was necessary to correct my double vision with eye surgery and hope not to wear glasses again . Would highly recommend him for any other adults with eye problems with good results .
I cannot give zero stars on google, otherwise I would have. Worst experience with Dr.Lenart during my daughter's eye exam. I totally agree with all other other negative reviews on here. Doctor does not explain anything and does not even talk to you properly. Doctor did not even care enough to explain what tests were performed, and what they mean. It is up to you to ask if you want to know anything, and even in that case you only get a short and rude answer and not any details.
Dr moon referred me this Dr, What I liked about Dr Lenart is how he treated me very professionally Afterwards, he had to perform surgery on my 3-year-old daughter and let me tell you, he did an excellent job. My daughter can finally look at you straight ahead and her eyes don't go from one side to the other side, We still have appointments to make sure everything goes well.
