I took my 7-year-old to Dr. Lenart for amblyopia treatment during what I know is a critical window for correction. I chose this office expecting specialized, child-focused care. Unfortunately, both visits were very disappointing. Dr. Lenart was short and unwelcoming during the first appointment and offered almost no explanation beyond saying my son's previous prescription was wrong. There was no discussion of a clear treatment plan for amblyopia. I filled the new prescription, but my son said the glasses made him feel sick and that the glasses made everything more blury. At our follow-up one month later, the interaction felt even more rushed and impatient. At one point, while my son was counting objects on a screen as instructed, the doctor spoke to him in a frustrated and condescending tone, which was discouraging and intimidating for a child who already has anxiety about eye exams. We were again told the prescription was wrong and given another one -- still without meaningful explanation or discussion of next steps. Why was it wrong? For a time-sensitive pediatric condition, I expected clearer communication and a more compassionate approach. This experience felt like a costly mistake, and I would encourage parents to carefully consider their options.

Great experience taking our 2 year old daughter to see Dr Lenart as her eyes weren't lining up appropriately. He saw us quickly, explained everything in detail and offered us various treatment options. He made sure all our questions were answered and reassured us our daughter would be okay. He also provided close follow up and would easily fit us in if we needed to see him earlier.

Dr. Cumings does an amazing job with my 1st grade daughter. She has had to see her several times for a painful procedure and willingly goes back excited to see her because she is nice and talks to her and makes sure she is comfortable. Cannot recommend her more she's great!

Dr. Cumings was great! She was very warm and friendly, which put me at ease immediately! I also found her to be thorough and easy to understand, willing to walk me through important information. I definitely would recommend her!

PARENTS- SEEK CARE ELSEWHERE. We were referred by our pediatrician to seek out a pediatric ophthalmologist to look into our 1 year old daughter's watery eyes due to a narrowed tear duct. I am appalled at Dr. Lenart's terrible bedside manner and the treatment we received at the clinic. When I called to make this appointment I made it clear to the staff member helping me that if the appointment wasn't one for an intervention and just a consultation I would rather have a phone or telehealth consultation with the provider in order to avoid driving 200 miles just to have a conversation. Because we were being examined for a very minor issue (excessive tearing due to lacrimal duct stenosis), there is nothing the doctor could not have seen via video or photos that he could have examined in the clinic since our daughter's only symptom is excessive tearing. We drove 200 miles for a 5 minute conversation where we were told that the appointment was unnecessary, and that we could "wait it out" until the child is 18. Why we couldn't have been told this over the phone or telehealth flabbergasts me. As far as bedside manner, Dr. Lenart was inappropriate from the beginning of the appointment. He called us out of the lobby and didn't even introduce himself. We were brought back to the exam room and I was unsure if he was a medical assistant or the actual provider until a couple of minutes into the exam when I finally asked him "I'm sorry, what was your name again?" And he responded "I'm doctor Lenart." He then proceeded to coldly examine my child without ever introducing himself to her or having any child, age-appropriate interactions with her to put her at ease or make it a positive experience. When I asked him about potential interventions related to my child's diagnosis, he described how he would do a procedure called probing without any anesthesia or sedation before 18 months of age because "the child wouldn't remember it anyway." He said he would use a tight swaddle and just keep them from moving too much. He also told me I "could be in the room for the procedure if you wanted, as long as you wouldn't pass out." I work in pediatrics and can honestly say I have never encountered another pediatric provider with such callous uncaring interactions with a child. We will not be returning to this clinic for any follow up care whatsoever and I advise parents to stay far away and seek care elsewhere.

I would not recommend this clinic to anyone. Front desk staff practices are unfriendly, unprofessional and unethical. Same goes for optical store onsite: Overpriced, unprofessional and unfriendly. My child was a patient at this clinic for 5 years. No complaints about Dr Lenart's treatment, but the front desk staff is horrible. Avoid this clinic, if possible.

Pls avoid for your kids. I visited this center 3 times only to realize it later that it was a waste of time and money. They dont care for their patients. If you are here for free eye exam covered by insurance then be very careful. In our case we went for annual eye exam and got charged since the doctor performed a comprehensive exam that we didnt know about. When I raised this issue, I was told it is upto clinic's discretion on what exam to perform irrespective of what the patient had asked for. Really ?? Followed up for 3 months on email but the staff is rude and arrogant to solve the issue.

Blown away by all these one star reviews. Yes, Dr Lenart is quirky. However, our son has been seeing him for almost 10 years and Dr Lenart has done wonders for him. What's most important is the care he has provided. Our son's eyesight is so much better after years of Dr Lenart advocating for him.
