Costco Optical Department

When I placed my order and picked out my glasses, the woman who helped me was very nice and helpful throughout the process. When I went to pick up my two new pair of glasses, a different woman helped me and she was mildly impatient, uninterested, and never fitted my glasses on my face. When I asked about that she scoffed and said, oh no, they do that during the eye test. That wasn't what I was talking about. Perhaps another line of employment would be helpful for her.

On May 11th, 2025, around 1PM, I brought my daughter to the optical center because we needed new frames. The last we went there, the workers that we talked with were really nice. They were patient, and gave my daughter advice on which glasses would suit her more. But today, we came across this lady, (white, had glasses, and had curly brown hair,) and she was very impatient. She didn't even test the frame my daughter picked out, and my daughter was just stuck there, wondering if the frame she picked out was okay or not. When I was talking to her, she was very impatient, kept rushing us, and kept asking us the same questions. She kept asking for my wife's and daughter date of birth and name, even though we already told her the first two times. She could've just looked at the insurance card I gave her. I also gave her a prescription paper, so she could've just looked at that as well. She asked for my wife's SSS, and I told her, "one moment" because I had forgotten, so I stepped aside to call my wife. She wasn't picking up immediately, and every single time I would hang up and try to call her again, that lady kept trying to rush me and it pissed me off. She also had a bit of a bitchy attitude towards me too. To sum it all up, I can't remember her name, but all I can say is that she was middle aged, white, dark brown curly hair, and had glasses. (I can't remember if it was green or like a pinkish purplish color.)

I just had such fantastic customer service today that i tried to offer the young lady $20 as a tip but she refused it because it is against policy. So I said I would write this review instead. Thank you, Alyssa.

My experience was pretty good. I was helped by a young woman, I think her name was Alyssa. She was helpful and kind. While waiting for my number to be called I observed varying degrees of customer service, so I was happy to get a decent associate. The frames selection was pretty good. I had just returned a pair to Warby Parker because they didn't fit my face comfortably. I found two pair here at Costco and bought them both. The glasses were ready in less than a week, so I was happy with the time frame. Overall a good experience. As a former customer service manager I like to report good service when I can.

The worst eye service I have ever gotten from the eye exam doctor Dr. Bell. Front desk is super unfriendly or rather straight out passive aggressive. Front desk is total garbage. I wasted my money. I will also attest to varying levels of customer service witnessed and experienced. Don't get your eyes checked her ever. My low rating is based on eye doctor only but the optics department is great. A girl named Alyssa helped me and she was wonderful.

Very disappointed!!! This place is like a fast food drive-through! Customers are rushed and hurdled like cattle... Four years ago I opted to fill my prescription with this optical center for the first time, and purchased two complete pair of glasses. It was right at the start of the covid, and literally after picking up my glasses, everything shut down. My glasses (lenses) never felt right, and after trying so hard to use them, I would have blurred vision, eye strain, headaches, nausea... Fast forward several months, I was still unable to use the glasses, as they never felt right. Recently (and about 4 years later), I visited to inquire about filling my updated prescription and getting a new pair of glasses. I explained my story about my two pair of glasses that never worked. The "certified" optometrist technician (aren't they all supposed to be certified), looked me up in their system, and her jaw dropped. She then proceeded to inform me that the lenses they put into the two pair of glasses four years ago were not matching the prescription that my Dr. wrote at that time. Huh??? Then she tried to be nice and suggested I bring those two frames and they can use them to put new Rx into them. Hmm? Shouldn't I be refunded fully for everything??? So, because of that (and Costco really does great job on returns), I am writing this poor review and will never come back for Costco's Optical Service. I guess, you get what you pay for! Please note, Costco Optical has (their own) rather older technology lenses with a limited viewing area, thus they can afford to be cheaper than most places around. Also, their eyeglass frames are very outdated styles; so if you think you will get a nice pair of glasses, it's most likely not going to happen.

If you are not white , the costco racist staff won't show you all the options and only show you the cheap options. I reported it to the manager, but she didn't care and it looks like costco recently dont provide equal service and what you get is based on your skin color .

Dr.Bell has amazing bedside manner.She was gentle, funny, and informative. My 11 year old finally got real answers about her vision and was delighted to be there.
